Glen L. Friedman, President and founder, is a communications and entertainment industry veteran, distinguished by over twenty years of exceptional strategic thinking with hands-on management skills in order to deliver practical solutions for his clients. The Ideas & Solutions! in-house staff also includes specialists in market analysis, target marketing and database environment.
Our Team
Glen L. Friedman is President and Founder IDEAS & SOLUTIONS!, a consulting firm now serving a range of leading and emerging cable TV, telecommunications, entertainment and new media companies. Before deciding to become a consultant, Glen's marketing plan for the introduction of DirecTV™ put GM's Hughes Electronics Corporation's digital satellite system into a higher orbit than anyone predicted, helping make the 18-inch satellite dish and DirecTV™ service a smashing success. As General Manager of Century Cable, he dramatically improved the profit picture and customer service for one of Los Angeles' leading cable systems. As Vice President of Marketing and Advertising Sales for Manhattan Cable, he helped accelerate the growth of one of the largest and most complex cable operations in the country and negotiated favorable programming agreements. Glen began building his track record for success at what is now Time Warner Cable, as Corporate Customer Service Manager, National Retention Manager and as a Marketing Manager.
Vice President: Jill Williams has nearly 20 years of marketing experience with over 7 at Ideas & Solutions! Inc. Jill works with clients managing projects, including developing timelines, delivering updates and ensuring project deadlines and deliverables are met from all members of the team. Jill is also responsible for proposal development and project financial management. Additionally, Jill manages the primary research team and provides qualitative and quantitative research support for Ideas & Solutions! clients. Prior to working at Ideas & Solutions! Jill owned her own consulting firm, Breakthrough Strategies, where she was dedicated to helping small retail and service-oriented businesses develop marketing strategies, including defining markets and structuring prices. She was also instrumental in designing logos, writing brochures, developing print advertising. Jill has written two marketing books for the entertainment industry focusing on the business of creativity, marketing oneself as an actor, artist and/or musician. The success of each was tremendous, based on the testimonial of those whose careers began taking off after utilizing the methodology put forth in the books.
Senior Associate: Lucy Bates spent over 17 years with Time Warner Cable in Consumer Research and Planning, with over 10 years as the head of the department. During her time at Time Warner Cable, Lucy handled strategic and tactical research projects addressing competition (satellite dish, wireless, and telephony competitors), interest in and design of new products (including cable Internet services), upgraded cable services, customer satisfaction, cable product preferences, etc. Lucy also analyzed competitive data on satellite dishes for the entire company. In addition, she tracked and analyzed behavior trends of cable subscribers on a consumer research database. She was on the CTAM Research Committee for many years, and received a TAMI award for co-chairing a CTAM Research Conference. Prior to joining Time Warner Cable, Lucy was at Gates Rubber Company where she did automotive and industrial research as well as econometric sales forecasting for industrial products. She has a BA in French from Colorado College and an MBA from the University of Denver.
